Happy Families cards are mixed into the General Deck.
==Overview==

Happy Families cards are divided into four categories: Husbands, Wives, Sons, and Daughters. These cards add a base value to all points multiplier cards, including themselves. The base value added to a multiplier card is equal to that card's multiplier. Husbands have a multiplier of 4, Wives have a multiplier of 3, and Sons have a multiplier of 2. Daughters have a multiplier equal to the highest other multiplier card in the player's five-item hand. If no other multiplier cards are present, the Daughter has a multiplier value of 1 (and, therefore, a base value of 1).
Happy Families cards are used to add additional multipliers to a player's hand. They also have several special effects which can affect game-play for a short period of time.

If an entire family can be constructed (Husband, Wife, Son, and Daughter of the same house) including at least one of the player in question's Pit cards, that player is able to bring the remaining cards into their Pit. If all four cards are then used as a part of the 5-card hand, they gain a 96x multiplier for that hand.

Viking Secret Wildcard Poker Add-on Deck
This page deals with cards from the game Happy Families as they pertain to the rules of Viking Secret Wildcard Poker.

Overview

Happy Families cards are used to add additional multipliers to a player's hand. They also have several special effects which can affect game-play for a short period of time.

Card Descriptions

Happy Families (HF) cards are divided into several families. Each family has 4 members:

  • Husband
  • Wife
  • Son
  • Daughter

Additionally, Each family has a Name and a Profession. There are too many different families to include them all here, but a complete list can be found on Wikipedia

Setup

Happy Families cards are shuffled into the general deck by the dealer at the beginning of the game.

Rules

Multipliers

HF cards add a base value to all points multiplier cards, including themselves. The base value added to a multiplier card varies by family member as follows:

  • Husbands have a multiplier of 4
  • Wives have a multiplier of 3
  • Sons have a multiplier of 2
  • Daughters have a multiplier equal to the highest other multiplier card in the player's five-item hand. If no other multiplier cards are present, the Daughter has a multiplier value of 1 (and, therefore, a base value of 1).

Combos

If an entire family can be constructed (Husband, Wife, Son, and Daughter of the same name/profession) including at least one Pit card, that player is able to bring the remaining cards into their Pit. If all four cards are then used as a part of the 5-card hand, they gain a 96x multiplier for that hand.

Special Effects

In addition to the above rules, if any member of the following families shows up in the community pile, the corresponding effect must occur. If any player cannot comply with the effect, they must fold. If not specified, any effect lasts until the end of the current hand.

  • Hearty, the Captain - For the rest of the round, all players, announcers, dealers, and anyone else present must speak with a Pirate accent.
  • Hardwatch, the First Mate - TREASON ON THE HIGH SEAS: All players remaining in the hand must pass their Pit cards to the active player on their left.
  • Snoot, the First Class Passenger - Players must now bet double in order to match other player's bets.
  • Stitches, the Sailmaker - Cloth items added to the pot are now worth double their appraised value.
  • Bacon, the Butcher - For the rest of the round, all players, announcers, dealers, and anyone else present must speak with a MAN VOICE! HAA! (Note: A Pirate Accent counts as a Man Voice.) Any Female players present must fold.
  • Block, the Barber - For the rest of the round, all players, announcers, dealers, and anyone else present must speak with an extremely effeminate voice. Any player incapable of speaking at such a pitch or in such a manner must fold.
  • Bung, the Brewer - For the rest of the round, all players, announcers, dealers, and anyone else present must speak with a either a Scottish or Irish accent. (Note: the accents count as Man Voices.)
  • Constable, the Policeman - Any personal possessions previously in the pot are returned to players at the time this card is dealt. They may be re-bet at any point afterward.
    • This does not affect the value a player must bet to check or raise.
    • For the purposes of this rule, betting chips have no owner. Nice try though. --Davefp
